Brief

The Pavilion Member’s Club on Kensington High Street offers a range of facilities to a high-end clientele. The re-design of the restaurant facing the street aimed to create a completely new and varied concept, and is open to the general public.

Concept

The restaurant includes a florist’s, a delicatessen serving homemade breads, a central champagne bar and an open kitchen. To create feature zones and highlight commissioned artwork, into designed bespoke feature lights in collaboration with designLSM. Ribbed glass and brass pendants hang above the delicatessen counter and a large tubular matt black and copper chandelier sits in one corner. Halogen downlights create a warm atmosphere, and all lighting is on a control system to provide the atmosphere for a daytime lunch menu and for evening fine-dining. LED lighting surrounding the central champagne bar draws attention to particular crafted features, and lighting of the central pillars are on a separate control system.

Result

An exciting destination restaurant showcasing the work of infamous chef Adam Simmonds (awarded a Michelin star at a previous venue), and which involves a warm lighting ambience that is easily translatable through the day and into the night. Our work on the project received ‘Commended’ from the judges at the 2015 Lighting Design Awards.
