Brief

The creation of a destination cosmetics room on the ground floor that would be fitting for one of the highest grossing floor areas of the London department store. The lighting needed to meet all the requirements of each individual concession as well as of the exacting client.

Concept

A uniform light level was achieved with high level metal-halide downlights using specialist glass filters. This combination provided good colour rendering and the right colour temperature for skin tones. Attention to detail and working closely with the joinery contractors ensured integral lighting added value to the product. Into sourced and developed a large bespoke chandelier, which provides the main feature in the room, and is made in Sweden from hand blown glass.

Result

A consistent lighting scheme enables a cohesive, clean and clinical design to the space and avoids the scattered approach beauty halls with multiple concessions often have. The quality of light meets the technical requirements and also provides the impact of high-end retail.
