‘Lighting up Quaglino’s’ Press FeatureJanuary 26, 2015
A feature on the complex lighting scheme designed for the refurbishment of Quaglino’s can be found in the January issue of GS Magazine. The piece describes the designs of multiple bespoke lighting treatments as part of the art-deco styled re-design, working in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio and D&D restaurant group.
This includes a description of the lighting within the difficult structure of the large ‘W’ ceiling and details on how the central restaurant bar was designed. As quoted in the article, the central bar was the most challenging aspect of the lighting design at Quaglino's. A collaborative effort from members of the into team, including our technical design manager on researching specialist products, resulted in a 9-piece segmented circuit for a 9-piece detachable central bar.
Also shown is the grand staircase leading down from the entrance which required an intricate lighting detail to fit within a narrow 22mm space. The result of the designs is an even and smooth light effect across the full length of the curved riser of each step, turning the original grand staircase into a striking feature.
