With a design office in Hampshire, UK and established partnerships in Germany, Dubai, Hong Kong and the USA, into is able to provide lighting design services for projects throughout the world.
The creative and commercial experience of into lighting enables us to develop intelligent lighting proposals within the parameters of budgets and timescales.
We can be appointed in a number of ways and tailor our services to a specific project and clients’ needs. All project teams are overseen by a Director and/or Associate to ensure a high level of service at all times.
Into Lighting Ltd was founded in February 1979, as a Lighting Retailer on The Broadway, Wimbledon with an initial focus on introducing the British public to exciting European manufacturers. The business soon moved to a more prestigious location at Wimbledon Village where the Lighting Design Studio began to develop, enabling the Company to introduce these “new” European brands into project specifications.
The Cutting family acquired the Company during the 80s with a view to expanding the business into the number one lighting design centre in the UK. With the added hard work and expertise of Robert Crow and latterly, the late Russell Lipscombe, during the 1980s and early 1990s, Into cemented its reputation as one of the “go-to” retail lighting design consultancies in the UK, attracting many leading retailers and interior designers with the offer of increased creativity over lighting manufacturers as we were not limited to a single product range.
In time for the new Millenium Into was joined by Darren Orrow, Russell Ford and Duncan Hamilton. Their combined experience and expertise from backgrounds including manufacturing, interior design and lighting design consultancies, helped to secure even more prestigious retail projects also enabling the expansion into Europe and beyond. They have all subsequently become directors of the Company.
Having reached the 00s the roll of the lighting designer had become accepted as an integral part of the project’s architectural design team and our own Team by now had reached over thirty in number with skills ranging from lighting design to electrical engineering and product design. Our project work had now expanded to include retail, Michelin starred restaurants, hospitality, leisure, workplace and residential sectors both in the UK and internationally.
Today, after 45 years we continue in our quest to realise our client’s vision through creative lighting design, delivered within budget and to programme across all sectors, whilst remaining independent of all manufacturers and with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental issues.
In recent years Andrew Cutler accepted the position of Managing Director, heading a very experienced and dedicated team, whilst Anthony Cutting has become Chairman. Together with the other family shareholders they would like to extend their gratitude to all staff members, customers and suppliers, past and present, for their support and dedication over the years.
into lighting are unique in that we can be appointed on either a ‘Fee’ or a ‘Design + Supply’ basis. We provide the same high level of design input for each appointment route. On a ‘Design + Supply’ basis we also manage the procurement and supply process in house to ensure the integrity of the original lighting design and specification is maintained, delivered and installed.
