Brief
Located in a grade II listed building, Galvin La Chapelle is one of a portfolio of restaurants by award-winning brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin. The brief for the project was to pay homage to the grandeur of the architecture and create statement feature lighting.
Concept
Into developed a lighting concept building various levels of light within the varied ceiling heights of the space, and which accentuated architectural details. The scheme allowed dimming to a low-level to create intimacy for diners in such a vast space. Halogen and LED light sources combine to play a role in the day to dusk scenes.
Result
Described as a truly unique project, for into this was a lighting consultant’s dream to work on with such fantastic architecture. Off the shelf feature lights would not have done the building justice, which is why into in collaboration with DesignLSM designed all feature lighting as bespoke. The project won in the Restaurant and Hotel category at the 2011 Lighting Design Awards and was a finalist in the Restaurant And Bar Design Awards in the same year.
