Going permanent after a spectacularly successful Shoreditch popup, Swingers presents 18 holes of immensely creative mini golf in a verdant, plant-filled, and beautifully detailed indoor space. The site is an ex-WWII bunker opposite the Gherkin which was raw, abandoned and derelict, with no natural daylight.
The client had a clear idea that they wanted to highlight the industrial features of the architecture, columns and walls, whilst creating drama and contrast between the golf courses and walkways.
The lighting design enhances the space both functionally and playfully throughout the day, into the night to compliment the function of each space whilst creating intimate warmth in such a cavernous site. A key factor was to highlight perimeters of the golf courses with an RGBW linear fitting built within a detail. Various integrated lighting details, and feature elements were used to create various layers to the lighting design. One element included in this, is lights within the trees on the final golf course hole lights up when you putt your final shot.
The 5 bars each have a distinct feel that is reflected within the lighting design scheme from a summery gin terrace, to a moody whiskey lounge, to the fun & playful food court.
